Default Curcumlocution and other verbiage

What a pile of nonsense retailers and manufacturers put into their marketing verbiage! I mean... I have yet to see a rod that would suit a novice or is especially suited to accomplished anglers, it is always recommended for use by novices and accomplished anglers alike....blah blah... blahdy blah...

So, how about posting up complete the complete twaddle that you find while browsing for a new: rod/reel/tippet/line/bag/coat/boots/waders etc etc etc ?

I'll start the ball rolling with this little gem:

"Looking great and being light, well balanced and with an incredible recovery rate, this Greys Fly Rod loads and unloads easily in your hands when casting."

Almost sounds like a gun...

I mean, WTF does that mean

I love marketing twaddle and in a lot of instances very guilty of spewing my fair share of cobblers. The ultimate is the make up or cream adverts with endless made up names and very suggestive but meaningless claims.

How about the X2340 Titaniarma
Possibly the worlds most advanced fly reel. Meticulously forged from the earths most versatile amalgams and finished in a highly protective coating, this fine piece of master engineering in it's timeless form not only pairs with the worlds most advanced fly rods but enriches the appearance and performance of a classic.

So anyone fancy a chinky base metal reel painted in silver paint.

This could be a bit of a turkey shoot, but how about this description of a Loomis "national debt of Argentina" rod, taken from the Sportfish website;

Quote:
Here's a beautifully balanced, lightweight rod for big summer steelhead or fall silvers. It's a great choice for slab steelhead up in BC whether you're skating big dries or swinging popsicles. It will punch out unbelievably long casts time after time... feeling more like a nine-footer than the ten-footer it is. It will give you hours of effortless casting and is so surprisingly powerful you can't imagine it.
It might be great for big summer steelhead or fall silvers up in good 'ol BC, but how does it perform on Pitsford - this is the UK, folks. And wtf is (are ?) "swinging popsicles" ?

A rather gaudy confection of pink and purple marabou and a renowned tasty morsel for steelhead.
