Default Flextec switch rods

Looking for any info on these rods they just look like a normal fly rod with an extended fighting butt ?

Well.....

I bought the 11ft for a bit of a gas. I got it for £25 for goodness sake, it works well as a switch rod, double / single handed. Quite light and bangs out a hell of a line - overhead or roll. I used it yesterday for 5 1/2 hours of Salmon fishing and it coped so much better than my double handed rod ever did in 'tight country' - however much of that was down to the line that I got for the rod. If I had actually () hooked a salmon I think it would have eventually coped but it isn't the stiffest of rods so it may have taken a bit of time

A mate thought he would try a 10 ft version - It isnt a switch rod - it just has a stumpy little butt end and cant be fished double handed.

The 11ft 7/8 wt goes nice with a Snowbee Switch 400 grain line. If that is too pricey a Greys GRXi WF9 Floater loads it very nicely too.

I got the 10ft 6/7 expecting the longer butt, but as before it only has the shorter one. Very similar in both casting and action to my Fulling Mill Gold 6wt rod and a good alternative to it.

put my normal line through it and both were putting out similar lengths of line with the same casting effort.

Will common cent measure it and see what difference there is.

I would be really interested in the results

In hand, the 7/8 (marked up 8) felt much stiffer in the lower and mid sections than a Snowbee 8wt.

I bought one of the 10' 8wt rods, and was disappointed to find they don't come with the extended handle and therefore aren't really Switch rods. I had a bit of an email debate with Tackle Discounts about it, and it turns out they only come with the 11' rods. They've agreed to update their eBay listings to make it a bit clearer, but I see no sign of it so far.
To be fair, the rod only cost me £21.50, so I can't really complain! I tried it out yesterday, and it's actually a really nice rod that can fairly punch out a decent line. One of my mates had a Flextec CDX and I absolutely hated it. No feel whatsoever and heavy in the hand. These new Powertec rods are much much better, and I'd certainly recommend them at the price as a second or spare rod.
