Hi Graham,

I would imagine many would say a Shakespeare of some variety, but without being rude or prying, what do you class as cheap??

Cheers,
A.

The Shaky Odyssey XT is a suitable rod for learning with and bang on budget, not sure about what # and length is best suited to a 6yr old though so maybe someone else can help out there

Neil

Edit,what happened to your budget,sure i saw £20/£30 somewhere

Hi Graham,

I have started to teach my lad (8 Years). The Shakey Odyssey XT 7ft 3# is absolutely ideal.

The rod can be had for between £25 and £32 new.

It is a nicely finished rod for the money - you will want to use it too.

Crikey m8, don't be embarrassed. For the real fly fisherpeople on here I'd bet..

1. They didn't start with expensive rods; and
2. If they couldn't afford the rods they currently have, they'd still be fishing, even if it was with the cheapest rod money could buy.

And anyway, technology has advanced so much in recent years that what costs £25 today would have been £250 just a few years ago.....

Enjoy

Cheers
Stuart

Graham why be embarrassed?,yes there are anglers on here that own sages etc ( myself included but its a RPL+ which is yrs old ).But like CN just stated the decent anglers on here wouldn't give hoot how cheap or expensive yours or your son/daughters rods are, granted there is some snobbery that creeps in now again but just ignore it

I haven't tried a vantage but they are supposed to be decent rods as are Flextec's

Ditto... DN is spot on there. I am introducing my twin boys (9yrs old) with the same rod at 9ft and they manage fine. I too use these rods and find them huge value for money.
