newbie requires advice

Hi
I want to fish stillwaters and would like to know what length of rod & line weight I should be looking at.

hi mark i fish stillwater with a 9ft6 #7 rod
think the recommendations from me would be 9ft6 #7/8
nice length and line wieght to start with imo.

If you are going to bank fish I think the advice you have been given already is correct.
If you want to boat fish I would opt for 10 feet and 7wtg for ressie fishing or 11 feet 7wtg if you are short lining wets on a loch.
Just my opinion.

Are you thinking of small waters or larger waters and reservoirs.Do you wish to fish boat or bank
