Hi

We are three fly fishing Norwegians that would like to try some salmon fishing in Scotland this fall. Need help on where to fish.

What we are looking for:
- Salmon/Sea trout beat for 3-4 rods. Not necessarily private
- Period: weekend late September/early October
- Preferably B&B or cottage close to the fishing
- Price level: +/- £100/day

I've visited several web pages with (loads of) information of different rivers but is difficult to know whats good or not.

Any help is appreciated!

Fishpal is probably a good place to start....... though do note, you can't fish for salmon/sea trout on a Sunday in Scotland.

The Deveron is good, depending on water levels though, less expensive then some of the more famous Scottish Salmon rivers, it is however the 5th most productive river in Scotland.

Biggest fly caught Salmon in the UK taken on the Deveron.

Mid Nithsdale Angling Association Fishings River Nith Dumfries and Galloway Scotland


given the right water conditions, which is usually a certainty in sept/october will be good fly fishing to be had on mid nithsdale.

not as many as Tweed, but less expensive, and more variation!
