You have to lay down some ground rules.
1 - Anything in the study is to be left completely alone under all circumstances.
2 - No one except the angler of the house is allowed in the fly tying room.
3 - The downstairs rod cabinet is only to be waxed and polished on the outside.
4 - The boot cupboard in the conservatory may be used by other members of the household but the angler's stuff must never be touched.
5 - Fair's fair, the angler musn't allow stuff to take over the rest of the house but he may leave his landing net in the wisteria on the south facing wall to dry off after an evening's Sport.
Goretex overtrousers should be washed in the washing machine with the Nikwax stuff, but the angler really should deal with it personally, as others may not do the job properly. Assuming the angler is a man, this is about the only instance in which a man should actually hear the sound of a washing machine. Wet fishing hats should be placed right side up on the simmering plate lid. Under these circumstances, using it for cooking etc. does have to wait until the hat is dry.
Other fishing clothes should be simply dealt with as per all the other washing in the house, except of course it should be given priority over all other items in case it is needed very soon.
Put these simple but fair rules in place and there is no need for any problems to arise.
