Hi, many thanks to all the members who helped with my previous thread on choosing some equipment. I have decided to buy a greys grxi+ 8'6" rod in 5 weight which i will hopefully be using mainly on rivers but with some occasional still water work.

I am now looking for a reel to match and have been looking between the greys gx500, gx700, x-flite or grxi+ but cannot really determine the difference between them. Can anybody help?

Also am i correct in assuming a 8'6" rod would be just about correct for rivers or should i be looking at a smaller for rivers and longer for stillwater?

And 5 weight for a beginner?

depends on size of river,i fish 8ft6 #5 on medium size river,
9ft6 #7 on stillwater.
