Default Which Sinking Line

I am looking at getting a new fast sinking line such as a DI7

But I am a bit confused by Airflow's rating of thier lines.

My Rod is rated as a #7 but the Airflow lines are rated as 6/7 & 7/8

So which one???

One of my sea trout rods is also rated #7, and I had this same problem with Airflo's slow Glass intermediate range. I first tried the 6/7 and found it difficult to load the rod correctly, so tried the 7/8 and found it much easier.

Sorry to confuse things but My 7# rods feel better with the 6/7.I feel the 7/8 loads fast but slows it down too much.especially with the fast sinkers.

Neither! The Rio Deep 7 is better than either, and only comes in #7.

Click the image to open in full size.

"The Deep 7 is based on an ultra thin, single strand monofilament core and is one of the fastest
and most durable sinking lines in the world. It gets flies down deep and generates high line speeds.
Virtually tangle free, and no memory. One size only, designed to load 6, 7 and 8 weight rods."

Sink rate 7-8 in/s

I find the 6/7 loads a 7 wt best if the whole head is aerialised. If you aerialise less than the full head before shooting the 7/8 may suite you better

all the best Nick
