what is the formula for making your own line sinker.

If you mean for leaders?,its fullers earth( some use cat litter )washing up liquid ( mix up to a paste ) and add a drop or two of glycerine

I've made up my own but haven't added glycerine, why is this needed (and can you get away without it)?

Its supposed to stop it from setting like concrete,but i suppose just adding a drop of water while on the bank wont hurt and does the same job

I've found that, even with glycerine added, it will dry out if it's not in an air-tight container. Old 35mm film containers are the best thing to use.
