Default Trashed fly line!

Not good, second trip out using my new pirate line and a carp took it round a submerged scaffold pole (old swim platform) and ripped up the first four feet, which I hastily decided to cut back. Slightly heavier landing on the cast but turns the 9' taper over ok still. Should I have left it as it was?

there is a 2 feet level tip at the end, so only 2 feet of taper lost, use a furled leader at the end and it will be fine.

If the line is a DT just pull it off and swap ends.

Tried this, made a good difference. Went down to my practice lake last night (abandoned pit 10minutes walk from my house - no fish in there!) Walked past the local river (you have to cross it to reach the quarry) had a quick cast and got a roach of nearly a pound!
