A group of us the the Elan last year around November, its a lovely river and the level's are well controlled, a good river to fish when others are in flood. There are brown trout and grayling. As noted above your best bet would be to fish the duo method, that's where you fish a bouyant dry i.e. a klinkhammer, or large sedge on the dropper and a nymph on the point (the end of the line). You attached the dropper by tying a lenght of about 2ft to your main line via a 2 or 3 turn water knot, see the knot section on this forum of google water knots for instruction. The duo is best fished in faster streamier water, usually found at the middle to the top of the pool. However if you see rising fish try a dry fly.
