Default My fishing nightmare.

I don’t have many dreams/nightmares about fishing, but last nights went along the lines of,

Booked a days leave to go fishing at my usual water, arrive at lodge and pay my money, head off to the boats only to find that ¾ of the reservoir was completely empty of water with only ¼ fishable , not great! But never mind as my thoughts were that all the fish would be concentrated in this area.
Loaded the boat, started my first drift and the water promptly dropped in level and flooded out into the other ¾ leaving about 18” of silty un-fishable water.
Had to get out and push the boat back to the lodge, went to ask for my money back only to be told that money was not refundable as it was up to me to check the water conditions prior to purchasing my ticket. Was not particularly happy with this response but wasn’t going to argue as assumed the ranger was correct, as I walked out I said I was going to post about my experience on this forum, this resulted an immediate refund of money directly into my bank account. The end.

Sorry is not exactly fishing related but wondered if this is some bad omen for the rest of the years fishing.

Hi Plumpy

Don't worry that this is an omen of things to come. Dreams relate to the present.Your worried about something that may not come up to expectations. The worries have manifested themselves as your nightmare fishing trip.
Relax do more fishing and try to worry less. If you don't your next dream could be hand to fin combat with a shark in the middle of the ocean and no one to help you.

I have a regular 'nightmare' about fishing. the water changes, but the dream is always the same.

I arrive at a wonderful looking salmon pool, in perfect height, with fish rolling throughout the pool, big, fresh fish.

I know that i have the beat to myself until midday so i start tackling up. as i do so i'm making all sorts of mistakes, missing rod rings, losing leader, dropping flies etc so that it takes forever to tackle up. meanwhile the fish continue to roll and leap. once set up, i have to walk to the pool, and theres a long drainage ditch or similar in the way, necessitating a long walk around it. once navigated i head to the water and then break the rod!! Back to the car for my replacement, and then the same rigmarole re tackling up etc. This goes on and on until i have a scant few minutes on the pool. a few casts later and i catch a small bream or something.. desperate for another cast i have to leave...

Blo ody horrible.

I'm feeling your distress Plumpy and Brownie Basher!

I too have a recurring fishing nightmare, where I'm fly fishing on the lawn in the back garden where I grew up.
There's no water, it's just grass and I kind of know it's pointless but I just carry on anyway with this feeling of vague disappointment/panic in my head!

Not fun!

Cheers BK, Mystic Meg or what

Yesterday I booked the most expensive camping trip ever, at £40 a night OK if the weather is good, I suspect that's where the worry has come from.
Also have this Friday off work and have booked a days fishing hopefully all will go well.

The nightmare I have most often I suppose started when I fell out of a boat on Banks Lake, eastern Washington in 35 feet of water whilst visiting my family last summer. Now I find that when I end up in the lake there is no boat and no one to help me and the more I struggle to reach the shallows the further out I am. Pretty horrible. Thankfully I always wake up before I start to drown.

im a disabled angler and i had this dream i was of to fish a river which ive never done since being in a chair, anyways it went something like this i get picked up in a milk float come golf buggy with my son and his mother who dont fish and we make our way thru a village down a steep hill to the bankside and the bend in the river and when we arrive its full of ppl waiting to go on theres like 2 ppl in charge with some sort of rosta and were waiting for the last shift to come of so we can go on,and im so excited about finally getting to fish this river and ive a few questions for those in charge like is there any deep drop offs as the water will go over my head whilst wading in my wheelchair(i know ridiculous)anyway im just putting the line thru my rod rings and my bloody mate phones me and gets me up.i says to him see you yah blooody pest i was jsut about to cast a line on the river there:P he was however phoning me about the fishing so off we went.
