I know to give their clear ridge floater a wide berth....it sinks

Never had a positive experience with Airflo but in fairness I gave up years ago...ever since fishing a boat comp in hot weather and I had to emerse my rod between casts so the line was slick enough to go through the rings

Hi,

I have just purchased the new 40+ Extreme distance line in a 6#, It has been used twice now, so maybe a bit early to be overly optimistic, but so far it does everything it says it does.

Cast's really well, Floats really well and lies really straight (right out the box no stretch required) Hope this helps..............Cheers Jim

No they haven't, the reply of Jim about the fourty + might be true, but i suspect he's stripping lures.... All and i do mean ALL Barstool floating lines i tried kink and twis if you let them just float on the surface... Spend your money on something more reliable, i haven't tried one myself but i hear the Pirate does some good lines...

airflo ridge hot coral line are good a vast improvement on their previous floaters very supple.

I am note sure they still make them as they keep changing their colours.

I am using my second (Ridge Tactical 6 weight). It cast well (subject to the point below), floats for the full length, but does recoil a bit. I use it for lures an some nymph fishing (I have other lines for nymph & Dry). I suspect that the way the ridges work by "catching" water to lubricate the line makes them sit low in the water (seems to make it difficult to lift at range), this doesnt matter too much for lures and the welded loop doesnt cause as much disturbance as a braided one. They are low strech so feeling for takes is easy, I also believe that it helps to hit takes (this may just be me). Also if fishing so the line lays on dry soil or sand (when not on the water!) it stcks to the line hampering casting distances.

I am looking for a new line, it won't be an airflo as I will keep this for lures - the new one will replace a Geys Platinum XD, this one lays straight but the end sinks like a stone

Not sure, but wor lass has. 2 spools of WF7F Velocity is holding up the sweet peas in the garden, and the other one is a washing line. And no, that's not a blob/buzzer set up.

Dutchy1978,

Not entirely true, I do fish small stillwaters mainly, Therefore using lures is in my opinion a must do, I fish lures probably 50% of the time, and the other is with CDC Yellow owl style, Diawl Bachs and dry fly and again only my opinion, but this new 40+ line manages ALL of the above and believe me I have fished with many different brands of lines.....................Hope this makes my previous post a bit more clear Jim

Ps An advantage I forgot to mention was the increase you get in distance, it is a bit strange at first but when you get used to the line it does cast Looooooong.
