Default Nothing Compares

I had one of them special days yesterday, I was down on the Welsh Dee fishing the Llangolen controlled waters, I'd fished higher up in the morning and had a few fish on the Duo, nothing of any size but good sport. In the afternoon we moved downstream and fished above Horseshoe Falls. I decided to fish dries as the river is abit slower and a few fish started to show, I was wading up the middle of the river, the fish started rising all around me in numbers and I started catching a few fish, the weather was fine the water cool and I was casting nice tight loops. Traveling home tonight after a sticky hot day in the office on a sticky hot packed train, it made me realise how lucky we fly anglers are to have experiences like this, fishing in lovely country side in good company, and catching a few fish in the bargin.
What a fantastic, fulfilling, enjoyable sport, well at least most of the time!!!

Gary,

Sounds like you had a real red letter day ... and count yourself lucky!

I have a full day (well, 6 hours) on the Nidd on Saturday just gone - did not see a single fish rise.

Then another 2 hours on the Wharfe at Biolton Abbey last night - again, no fish rising. Both sessions were blanks - hard going this time of the year.

Kind regards

Sounds like you had a good day. Im staying in a cottage in Overton for a week at the end of the month so hopefully the Dee will be as productive then as im taking a mate fly fishing for the first time.

Hi Darren,
Things should be okay by the end of the month, there's alot of pressure on the river at the moment, lots of anglers practicing for the National Rivers Final in two weeks time, there were more anglers on the river on Saturday than I've ever seen before. So things should have settled down nicely by the end of the month.

Still better than a day at work for most of us though!
