Hi all,

Going to have a go on the Thames tomorrow morning with conventional coarse tackle and bait. Maggots, hemp and groundbait fished with a waggler about 3~4 rods lenghts out.
But, I'm also going to try using an apps or similar bloodworm fly either on a ledger rod or, once the fish are happily feeding, under the waggler. Can't really see why it wouldn't work as most coarse fish will feed on worms.
Has anyone else tried this?

On the Clyde, it is common practice, while trotting for grayling, to use a fly on a dropper while using maggots in the standard way.

What you need is a couple of maggot flys as well

Cast it out and let it float through the swim
Hold on tight to the rod though
