i tested out my new 9ft 10wt rod yesterday and managed to catch two pike.
one at 2lb and another 5lb.it was great fun i really enjoyed it. the 5lber put up a hell of a scrap for its size. looking forward for my next piking trip hopefully catch a double!

The pike in my local canal are a bit scabbier than that!

the pike in the first picture came unhooked right at the end and just sat there sulking. the second one fought like hell even on a 10wt . cant imagine what a big highland pike will fight like, hope i find out soon.

well done fella....keep going and u,ll get a twenty... and when u do... buckle up...!!! and enjoy the ride..!!

Nice fish and I am sure you will get some bigger ones.

A little advice buy yourself an unhooking mat or lay the fish on the grass to take a photo because the stones will remove the protective slime from the fish which leaves it open to disease.

With Mr Macmagoo on the the wet unhooking mat or wet grass, please remember its essential you lay Pike or any other fish you intend to return on a wet mat or grass to protect the fishes slime and the fish if it starts to flap about, Pike are very fragile despite their appearence and especially at this time of year when oxygen levels can be low.
