Default Fly Fishing Snobbery?

I sometimes get the feeling that some fly fishermen almost 'look's down' at coarse anglers, and some 'fly only' salmon anglers 'look down' at anglers that fish the worm or prawn.......personally..i take my hat off to any angler..no matter what method, that can entice a fish to take when conditions are difficult....Do i feel that there can be/is snobbery amongst the 'fly only' brigade...you bet your erse i do.

I am a fly only man....but i know one thing...if i was as good an angler as a lot of our non fly bretherin, i would catch a lot more fish.

Sorry for the rant.....but i personally do not think we always give our coarse/bait fishing bretherin thier due deserve...........tin hat and flak jacket on..

there is only one way to catch a game fish and that is with the fly, a trout, salmon or grayling by any other means just doesn't count. that is my opinion and it has nothing to do with snobbery just my own sentiments. i spin for perch in the autumn and have been known to trot a stick float for chub but never for game fish. i wish all anglers luck in what ever method they legally use, but deep down hope that one day they will see the light!! jon.

Whether coarse or game angling there are always the good the bad and the ugly. In my experience of the angling faternity there are more good than bad. There are always snobs in all walks of life. I've found titled fishermen to be true gents. Those that think they are better than their fellow fishermen are the worst kind of snob IMO.

I find nothing wrong with bait fishing for trout per se, but I do believe groundbaiting and the creation of a feeding area for game fish is unsporting. I've lived in South Africa and New Zealand where it isn't allowed.

I've fished at Scout Dyke, near Penistone, South Yorkshire where they permit "any method." The contempt anglers of different codes have for each other is amusing, to say the least.
