Default Isle of Arran.

Hi all,

Going on holiday to the Isle of Arran for a week on saturday. It's a family holiday but taking my fishing gear too. My five year old son wants to do some fishing as well!

Can anyone please point me in the right direction for some fly fishing both stillwater and river and also for some sea fishing as well. We are staying on the south coast in a cottage near Lagg. Any help or advice would be appreciated.

cheers,

Nick.

I'm not sure if the fishery at Blackwaterfoot is still open. George & his wife ran a guesthouse there. He had a fly pond of about an acre or so & a little bait pond as well. The Arran angling association also have access to hill lochs & rivers. Ask in at the Whittingbay shop, they should be able to help. Or check with the estate at Lagg. Hope this helps. Enjoy your holiday.

If your renting the cottage from Arran hideaways, you could ask someone from there, or the tourist information office, it's down at the ferry terminal.

There is a hill loch called Loch Garbard (or similar) which is well stocked. Permits and directions on how to get to it are available at Lamlash post office.

Anything to report? I'm off next Saturday (near Lagg too) - did you manage to fish when you were there?
