Yesterday my new friend beerlover and I fished Meadow Fishery just outside Chester for the first time. A lovely little fishery all part of a farm made up of three lakes- two fairly small with one a bit larger with an island in the middle, the largest being surprisingly shallow despite it's size. It's a big fish venue with lots of photographs of big fish proudly displayed in the well stocked tackle shop on site, the fishery record currently being held by an 18 pound 8 ounce rainbow. A pleasant scenic little fishery which has the potential to produce some lovely catches. Unfortunately yesterday wasn't a day to do that and I was quite disappointed by the amount of aquatic weed in all three lakes. I doubt this had any affect on the fishing as it was more than likely the water temperatures made the fish like those in the majority of stillwaters rather lethargic, but it would be nice not to have to continuously clear weed from your fly on almost every cast. There were a large number of anglers fishing yesterday and will probably be more today and tomorrow being the weekend so why can't the management cut a bit of weed to help the anglers out a bit. I don't say cut it all, but keeping it at a more sensible level would surely help. I will definitely fish this venue again, but perhaps not till the weed is cut back. Just wondered what other forumites felt about weed as it's quite a problem this time of year. Byron T
