Default very quick question, braided loop

Quick question
I know how to attach braided loops to the end of my flylines but...

I wonder how big a gap do you leave between the end of the fly line and the loop of the braid?

i.e. do you put the line as far up to the loop as it can go

or

do you leave a gap so that for say an inch or two there is some braid only before the loop?

Reason I ask is that I wonder if it helps stop hinging if you have some gap in this area?
Recently saw a new line from John Norris shop with a large gap and I wondered if this was intentional to help transmit smooth power down the line when casting etc...

Gonna fix mine tonight and wondered what way was best etc.

cheers
Rusty

Simple answer ... as close as you can get it.

The best braided loops, if that's what you use, are the Roman Moser mini cons. I've never understood why some braided loops are between 4 and 6 inches long.

Most loops are made a bit on the long side, chop them down to around 4" long.

Push the fly line in as far as it will go, trim the frayed bits and whip over that bit if someone can show you.

There was a reason for it, and it wasn't a good one!

Braided loops are a doodle to make, if you can get the end of the line into the internal braid it's better still.
