This rod is tremendous value for money to start with and comes with a cordura tube. The Odessey range has been around for a good few years and was popular. Now Shakespeare have improved the quality and performance with the XT. All these range of rods are three piece. You can buy better rod for a lot more money but in the economy range this rod is hard to beat.

I've got a 9"6 6 weight and really like it, they are a bargain - although I did see Bill1 snap the tip of his whilst casting once did you get a replacement Bill?

I did and in fairness no quibble from John Norris. However, on only it's second outing (the replacement) the exact same thing happened to my son who had borrowed it. A clean snap whilst casting.

This was the Trion XT and not the Odyssey.

I've now had too many snapped tips with the Trions, old and new. I won't be buying any more. My Odyssey however is still going strong.

My dad bought one of the odesseys from John Norris for 30 odd quid with the free line, 6 weeks later he bought a Greys as the people he had been fishing with at Arnfield convinced him they were so much better - tonight he rocked up just with the odessey as he now prefers that to the greys! I just laughed

I've got the 7'6" 4 weight. Lovely little rod with a comfortable medium action but it can hold it's own against the big boys as well. I've taken fish up to 45 cm on it with no problems and even one at 68 cm although it was foolish of me to target that fish with this type of rod. The only warning I would have is that it's a FISHING rod and not a casting rod! So if you're looking for a fast action that can shoot the entire line in just a few false casts go with a different rod but if you're looking for a rod you can cast with all day and that will let you catch fish then this is a great value for money.

Take care

Terry
