Default Farmoor this weekend

I have not fished Farmoor for about 4 weeks and would like to know if the fish are still close to shore or moved in to deeper water. I like to use my little 5 weight and floating line, I am not in to fast sink shooting heads.

Did have a look at the Farmore forum but nothing recent posted there.

Thanks for any help

I'm thinking of popping over there tomorrow, what's the latest?

There is a report on the Farmoor website that is a couple of days old. Chap had 6 in four hours on buzzers. I'm probably going to have a sporting boat tomorrow. Had one last week and had five on dries. Not easy but very satisfying.

How late in the year does it normally continue to fish well from the bank, Bob? Once we get some cooler weather, I would like to introduce my cold smoker to some tasty Farmoor trout, but I know when I've fished it early in the year it has been hard going with most fish coming from the boats.

It's closed until the August bank holiday weekend.

Could be just F1, best to give them a ring or check the website.

F1 is closed until Bank Holiday weekend. Opens on the Monday I believe. The reason is to prevent fuish deaths due to being caught & released during the warmest(!) period. They also stocked it just before it closed so the fish have had 6 weeks to acclimatise and grow. Check your backing knots before going!

Steve,

I've never fished there much later than mid-October as I have working gundogs and that's when they start paying me back for feeding them all summer! When I have fished there in October I've still had plenty of fish on floating lines from the bank.

Had three from F2 last week and had several get off ! Fish were full of gold/olive buzzers - didn't have anything like them but prob stripped quill buzzer/brown cheeks/breathers would have been ideal (but that was last week) ! Was fairly cloudy and caught all using clear sink tip line.
