Default Ireland - seeking advice for Connemara & Donegal

Hi

Off for 2 weeks in Ireland on Friday.

Staying next week in Connemara near Rosmuc and the week after in Donegal near a wee place called Termon, north of Letterkenny.

I'm looking for some trout fishing that I can dip in and out of at both locations.

All advice on locations, permits, licenses etc., gratefully received.

ps. Any likely spots for mullet or mackerel on the fly would also be most welcome

(I've also posted this in "Destinations" but not many seem to view that section)

Termon offers you a good location for fishing Brown Trout,Rainbows ,Seatrout and salmon. You have in Creeslough a rainbow Trout fishery-usually I expect permits can be bought in the local shop.Nearby is Glen Lough where you have fishing for Seatrout and Salmon.Salmon is catch and release and some consider it a bit pricey for permits and boat hire and National Salmon licence. You have similiar fishing available at the Glenveagh National park where there are 2 boats for hire-only no catch and release here.A little further afield you have Lough Fern with no permits(I think) but you need to hire a boat and finally 2 lakes in Dunfanaghy and boats and permits at Arnolds Hotel.Lots of small mountain lakes where you are free to wander. Mackerel seem to be everywhere this year so pick a spot and cast your line..That should keep you busy!

Connamara has lots of mountain lakes with free fishing but there are also salmon and seatrout fisheries where you will need the usual licences and permits.
Finally you need some of our normal summer weather of rain and wind.Tight lines.
