Why would any self respecting tackle shop offer a reward for a endangered specie?,and well done to the Sun for publishing the article in the first place as like the article states loads of spear fisherman will be at it

Quite agree that we should not be fishing for an endangered species.
Let it prosper in peace until it is at a sustainable level to harvest.

Will the spear fisherman be prosecuted?

Strangely enough, aint unusual for them to be around.
Used to be a very good catch in North sea a century ago.
white whickam fly reels were made by hardy solely for this purpose.
is also a growing blue water business on west coast of Ireland solely devoted to catching the big ones, 1000lbs plus september through to november.
regards
bert

Posters on the Sun site obviously don't have the benefit of spell check! Interesting take on the story and as we all know Tuna only comes in tins

DISCUSTING!! killing theese endagrered fishes shuod be a crime and they shuod go to prisone. the goverment is going down the pan and letting thees people kill valuable food sauces that we put in tins but theese are HARD TO FIND! they can do this fishing IN RIVERS. NOT at the tax payer expeneses.

Sadly no more, there hasn't been hit for 2, 3 or 4 years! I fished off Donegal for them back in 2002, saw loads but no hits. It seems the big trawlers may have cleaned them out.

As I pointed out in a previous post, the Mitsubishi company are mainly responsible for the demise of the Bluefin, along with the EU not enforcing proper quotas to curb the Mediterranean countries carrying out their annual slaughter!

Google "end of the line" for more info.
