Default Ireland

Hi all, am going on a break to Kilnaleck in mid august with a cousin and was hoping to do a day or so of fly fishing. Any recommendations for places near Kilnaleck would be great, we're pretty new to fly fishing so any advice on tactics and flies would be appreciated.
Thanks
Jay

Hi jay
If your down that way it will have to be Lough Sheelin, hire a boat and fish standard wets or dry sedges .The lough is busting with fish.

Why on earth Kilnaleck ?? I live just down the road from there

As said above Sheelin but don't expect the fish to be jumping into the boat as that Lough can be a ball breaker at times . As stated above it is indeed full of fish although half of those would be stockies Still there are some very nice and very big wild fish on there to be had if you have the time to put in or just have lucky golden balls ....

Sedges , all the usual Lough wets and some fry patterns if you have it in you try and tempt a fry basher

There are a few day ticket waters about for the bows if thats ya thang ??

You also have Ennell and Owel near by ...

Will pm you my phone number and you can give me a bell when you are there and I will meet up with you for a proper chat and put you right

If you want to get the most out of your one or two days fishing hire a Ghillie !!

Thanks for the replies, looks like sheelin it is! Have never been on a lough before so will be nice to try. Is there a website for sheelin where I can get details for booking boats and ghillies?
