Default line re-conditioning

I have several lines which I have not used for a year or so. They have been kept out of the sunlight and still look fine, and I will be giving them all an airing shortly.
They are all on reels, and I think that the plastic memory and the resultant coils may be a problem that simply stretching the lines may not cure.
In the event that they need revitalising has anyone had experience with these line re-plasticisers I have read about?

How effective are they as far at removing memory coils?
How good are they generally?
Which is the best ?
How often should one use them?

Any info gratefully received.

I have had lines on spools for years without many problems(good quality lines) a good soak in lukewarm soapy water and a buff up seems to do the trick.I do use snowbee line slick on my floaters.I also use armorall wipes on my floaters.

My lines live on the reels, no problem...........ditto 3lber a dunk in luke warm soapy water brings them up as good as new (worth doing periodically anyway)...............birdsnest

Thanks guys,
I read somewhere that soap flakes are safer for fly lines than the detergents soaps. I will let you you know how I go on after I have tried the lines out.

Whatever you use make sure it's not washing up liquid,Rio Agent X is a excellent line dressing

Baby wipes are best as other wipes can strip some of teh lubricants out of them (or so I hear) but baby wipes are gentle but brilliant at cleaning them.

And rather cheap and very readily available too

Also, a little known fact is that baby wipes are one of the BEST stain removers for clothes and other fabrics.

I once removed biro with baby wipes from a suede sofa unit after someone's little darling displayed her Picasso tendancies on our sofa
