Default Questions!!! Fly Fishing West Lothian?

Good afternoon all,

Me and me missus are popping up to see some of her relatives in West Lothian the end of next week for a few days for our 2nd honeymoon! While we are there meeting the rellies we will probably try and get one days fishing done... My missus would like to fish all the time we are there, but it maybe a bit rude turning up, saying hello, then buggering off for three days catching and eating your way through the scottie fishies while swiggin a few single malts!!

Soooo...Questions!!

Question1) Where abooots (see already getting the accent there) is good for fishing, river/reseviour/lock for one day? Any links would be nice so i can check out catching on/costs etc?

Question2) When i visited Scotland over 25 years ago i got munched to death by midges one day and never forgot the bloody pain a couple of hundred lil buggers can do to you within a few hours!! So, what's the best midge repelant? And answers of the "Dont go to Scotland will work" may be ignored I have been told of some stuff called Deet that my mate used in Borneo and it worked a treat there, but not sure if it will work over here?

Question3) 2nd anniversary is cotton so a chance to get a new vest, one each for me n the missus, but not matching, im a scouser not a weirdo!! Has anyone seen any good deals knocking about? Only looking to spend £30 - £40 max on each...

So anyone in the know either post or PM me!

Ta all!!

Pete

PS Ben, i may be taking me new 10 footer i got off ya for a throw!!

Can only help with question 2...Avon's Skin So Soft, I bet 9 out of 10 answers on her will be that :P Although I did hear they have changed the formula/recipe and that it's not as effective anymore but it worked for me recently, unless of course you walk into an army of them, in that case yer f*&ked.

Deet is an abreviation of an ingredient of Good Midge repellent,30%deet works unless severe attack then 75% is better..IMHO Skin so soft is Rubbish.
There was a thread last week about fishing west lothian .
fishing round Livingston

That will do the trick.Be warned it can melt plastic.so make sure your hands are clean before handling your leader /flyline.But it's worth it.

HiPete,
In answer to your firts question I could recommend Linlithgow Loch which is locatd in the centre of Linlithgow and has great trout fishing. It s a particularly good buzzer water. Its web site is very good and has all the info you need. It is primarily a boat venue.

In answer to your query about the midges they are mostly to be found in the west of Scotland and my mate and are are rerely botherd by them on this side of the ountry.

Hope you enjoy your visit.

Jay kay.
