Both answers from Scotsmen Alan, I'll have a guess at a plague of locusts, couldn't possibly be midges, not in Scotland surely.

Aah you can't beat it - when I go up to Argyll it doesn't feel like a proper holiday until I've caught a few fish and can't sleep at night for itching . It can get like that on a lot of waters in the lake district too at this time of year - skin so soft's alright to an extent, but sometimes the swarms are so thick that personally I'm more worried about choking on the blighters than getting bitten .

Easy - it's a rather out of focus photograph. Or am I missing the point ?

Correct Steven, Scott's disqualified

sorry for the dull photo but i was inside a midge net, with shoo on and all skin covered, lying at ground level in a bog, the noise was pretty surprising, this is as bad as it gets, some still got in, bare skin wouldnt stand a chance.

the prize is a day on loch collie barr in Argyll
