Default Lindholme Lakes (Sandtoft, Doncaster) Re-Opening for Trout Fishing ?

I have heard that Lindholme lakes will be opening to Fly fishing again soon - does anyone have any more information.

I was a Junior member of a trout fishing syndicate there about 30 years ago (although the main reason for joining at the time was to fish for the big pike in the trouts closed season). It used to be a nice quiet place to fish, although having seen the match fishing layout it has now I guess that has probably changed.

Hi Dave, a guy I know at another local fishery told me the same thing a couple of weeks back, nothing on the Lindholme website about it but doesn't look like it's updated too often, I'll try and remember to give them a call about it...it would be good to have another venue in south Yorkshire.

If the trout fishing does return I will be giving it a go - even if only for a bit of nostalgia. It will be interesting to see where the lake fits in, when I was a member there (1980/81) there was only one lake the first season, with another dug out as a stock pond for the second.

More from the rumour mill, I have heard that they are looking to stock with 6000 fish, I also heard from another source that there is a possibility that they might buy the fish from Wykeham when the fishery manager leaves at the end of the season. If the Wykeham rumour is true they should be good fish, I have caught a good number of fish there this season - nearly all of them in great condition and good fighting fish. I am hoping there will be a picture of one below - but I am still new to the forum and aren't sure I've done it right!

Phil / JCWarn - if either of you find out anymore please let me know, If I find out anymore I will keep posting!

Just had a look on Lindholmes Website - looks like what was the trout lake years ago is now split into "Willows", "Strip", "Loco", "Big Lake", "Beeches" and a bit behind beeches that doesn't have a name

Beeches and the bit next to it were the trout lake , IMHO the whole place is spoilt and has lost the charm that it once had .I think I would prefer to remember it as it was and not revisit .

yes i think you might be right not to visit.it has lost its finese.the alure has got but that happens when you get older ive found.im going on a trip to devon soon and i expect the same there. but i hope it still gives me that thrill you know that early morning mist on the water thrill well i will have a walk round when it starts and see it needs attention to detail.perhapes fly fishing for carp might be differant thing to do but the carp soon get wise so maybe not

My first worry when I heard that trout fishing was starting again was that if I went I would loose some of the memories I had of the place. I have seen it on Google maps and TV angling programs and it does look about as far removed from what it was as is possible!

That being said I think curiosity would get the better of me and I would have to go at least once
