Default Trip to Canada

6 of us are planning a trip to Canada for a fortnight of fishing (mainly salmon and sea trout). Was wondering if anyone could suggest area's to goto and what time of year would be best. Looking for a good 2 weeks with a variety of different fishing in the area without paying through the nose any help would be much appreciated as none of us has been before.

Cheers Alex

Alex,

I can highly, highly, highly recommend the Skeena River around Terrace in BC. It's around a two hour flight from Vancouver and has massive runs on Chinnock, Chum, Coho, Sockeye and Pink Salmon plus Steelheads. Absolutely awesome and you would not be dissappointed!

I'm proper jealous!!!

All the best

FC

Hi Alex

This a fantastic recomendation from Fluffchucker. If you go in August to the Skeena River you have the chance to catch:- KINGS, SOCKEYE, PINKS, CHUM, SILVERS, STEELHEAD, & RAINBOW.

What more could you wish for?

Must say looks vey impressive and all the lodges i have looked at are top notch. Ave passed this on to the rest of the group to see what they think. Most lodges will come and get you at the airport and have a ghillie there as well.

Try STS Guiding at guidebc.com. We fished with these guys a few years back and they were first class. We went in the first two weeks of October and I never seen so many salmon in my life. They also are very good at the sturgeon fishing which makes a pleasant change from the salmon. They have a lodge I think it called anglers retreat or something like that and you wont find a finer house anywhere and having a chef to cook you meals every day takes some beating. Give them a look there not a bad outfit

Excellent info above, but one other place to do some 'research' is the SpeyPages web Forum. (Several posters here also post there on a regular basis.)

A considerable number of the folks live in the area(s) you're looking at (PNW) and many more fish it on a regular basis. Could be a great (free, and free is good) resource.

Can I stow away when you go? I'd love a trip to BC, but my finances won't go that far just now.
