Default Retirement-waters

Well, the bus pass has arrived and retirement is flooding towards me. time to plan the last move bar one. having lived and fished from the london area,my knowledge of fishing around the uk, and ireland is lacking. but i have got to escape the dreaded m-25, and an average two and a half hours journey. somedays i am beat before i start. i am looking to relocate to where stream, river, lake, and salt, are within reasonable travelling distance. so forum members, can you suggest an area to suit, or perhaps share your own piece of paradise, thanks in advance, steve.

You couldn't get much better than the Scottish Borders. Everything at our disposal. Large Rivers, small rivers, wild brownie lochs, stockie lochs, coarse lochs, and the sea less than an hour away. Beautiful scenery, the best of all worlds. A season ticket on prime tweed wild brownie fishing for £30 or less....
Grayling in winter. Sorted all year round....

Bristol!!! Good for Wales and southern chalk ( M4 ), local resies, Devon streams just a hop to the south west and the M5/6 up to Yorkshire the borders and Scotland. No where else gives you such options.

Bakewell view the map in Ordnance Survey mode for best idea of what is there and around.

Devon. More small streams than you can shake a rod at on Exmoor and Dartmoor, plenty of bigger rivers all with trout, sea trout and even salmon if you put the time in. Some very good reservoirs around the county and there is miles of varied sea fishing along the north and south coast.
