With the AT National Fishing Month fast approaching, can I make a request to all Forum Members here to try to get a youngster started in Fly fishing.
Most Events are free to participate in with venues and tackle thrown in. Also there will be qualified angling coaches involved to both teach the youngsters and give advice to adult anglers. Have a look on the Angling Trust Website
Angling Trust Organisation for Anglers and see what is happening in your area.
Personally I am involved with the Angling Development Board Talent Pathway Initiative for 12-16yr olds and I am also in the process of achieving an ADB Level 2 Coaching Qualification (hopefully).
Two youngsters from the North East, Carl Malpass, who is currently a member of the England Youth World Flyfishing Team is involved, as is Josh Fenton, and both are a real credit to what the EYF and the ADB have achieved in recent years.
C'mon folks, do your bit to promote flyfishing in your area. Most of all, you will enjoy it, as I do, if you take part in it.
Cheers
Graham
