Default poll on Ea licence

I asked the question, Is the licence value for money or not. Who would like to see the licence scrapped or kept?

I'd pay £100 per year if the money was used properly and made a real difference.

I agree , I would be willing to pay more if the money was well spent.

It is one of the things that automatically gives English and Welsh anglers the moral high ground compared to other river amenity users that do not contribute anything to the upkeep and conservation (e.g. kayakers).

If it was a voluntary thing, you only need to look at the pathetic numbers of anglers who are members of conservation groups etc.

Whilst many responsible people would probably pay more (assuming value for money satisfaction), as a compulsory thing that lots of people will begrudge - it is about right in terms of price (which is what, around 50p per week for a full year).

With the Pirate and Frank here ,would happily pay even more than the migratory license is now if I thought that money was going into good care for the rivers.

It is interesting to see the early trend of the poll so far.

The EA might recommend the licence fee more to anglers if it communicated better with them. However, I'd rather see the money, time and manpower spent on the rivers than self promotion.

Something doesn't quite stack up re the figures.

1.5 million rod licences sold last year, yet only £400k spent on projects.

Environment Agency - Rod licence spend totals over £400k last year

Where did the rest of the money go?

How much was spent on admin costs and salaries?

The Pirate.

If the money was used properly and made a real difference. You know that's never going to happen.

colinmac asked: "Is the licence fee value for money?"

The Pirate answered: 1.5 million licences sold yet only £400 spent on projects.

The majority of you voted that it was value for money
