Default Coming of age.

From a fishing perspective.

Last night I binned all my braided loop connectors and installed Grays loops.

I used then initially for convenience but I've been getting fed up with them getting caught in the rod rings and sinking when I want them to float. Hopefully this'll be the end of my woes.

It's the little things . . .

What's the difference with Greys loops and other braided loops?

Grays loop is this:Gray's Loop - Fly Line Leader Loop

It's not a braided loop at all.

Not Greys the tackle manufacturer and not a braided loop.

A Greys loop is a loop formed with monofil.

I read a tip several years ago from fishing a master angler (Gwilym Hughes) that involves stripping the about an inch of fly line with acertone and tying a couple of basic granny knots in the core..
tie your tippet behind the granny knots.
less wind resistance no cost. and is as strong as your main line..
I have never looked back.

on my salmonl line when i use various sink rate leaders I form a loop and whip in much the same way...

I was taught much the same thing by an old friend but no need to strip to the core and it has saved the odd day fishing.
I do tend to use loops but have decided to needle knot my lines sometime soon perhaps in the close season.

Hi GH,
I like this idea, iv had enough of sinking loops too, but does tying the leader behind the knot not cause hingeing on the cast?
Forgive me if that is a stupid question im nowhere near a casting expert.
