Default Cabelas Guidewear - Shipping to the U.K

Hi Guys

I am looking for a bit of help , if possible.

I am trying to buy a set of Cabelas Guidewear waterproofs , from America , for my son and have just been quoted 180 dollars for the postage

Has anyone else bought these from Cabelas in the U.S. and can you please let me know the cheapest way for me to get them delivered to the UK.

Cheers

Check previous post, every thing you need to know is there in great depth.

Do a search under this same folder for words such as "import" and "tax"

The general rule of thumb is that you will also get severely screwed on import duties and your courier will then happily charge you some more for "admin" for charging you the tax

Far better, generally, to buy local. Try Grommit for a good deal or find someone going and (hopefully) coming back from the States if you want to go down that route.

Indeed, I even bought from Cabellas when working in the states and selected expidited shipping (still took 3 days) and paid $55 for a small box of lures.........

Never again!

I think Cabela's has a store in France if it has to be from them.
I just shipped a small package to N. Ireland and I think the postal fees are down right silly and that is without the duties and what not.
Going local should be a good bit cheaper.

$180.00 USD???? How the heck are they packaging them up; in a lead box? I, with somewhat frequency, have 'stuff' that Forum members shipped to me (seller won't go through the small hoops to ship international) and for $180.00 I could mail me to the UK (registered/insured/priority). They're messing with your head unless that box would weigh in at 50 some pounds.

Any idea how heavy the box is, and what inside US shipping would be?

Waiting for the UPS truck right now to trans-ship a rod one the fellows purchased off of e-bay. Tapping my finger tips on my desk top as I want to get that off in todays mail. Damned box was in the UPS distribution center (15 minutes drive from me) at 0630 this morning ... and still no delivery truck.

Only 60 minutes till the Post Office closes for the day and my 'Plan A' was to head for Montana very early tomorrow morning. That may go down the tube.

Nuts!

Yes-I got virtually screwed when I bought a bunch of stuff from Cabelas last year and tried to bring it back-not Cabelas fault actually-Deltas fault for leading me to believe I could take back as much gear as I took over. Found out to my cost- $155.00 (£100+) through the mail and another $55.00(£38.00) to bring and post my stuff back here via Delta Airlines. Cabelas has nice stuff, but until they actually get a franchise in the uk and Not just a website saying "cabelas.co.uk" it's not worth touching their stuff with a barge pole-unless like a member said you can find someone travelling to the USA and back in the near future.

I am constantly drawn to American sites for largemouth bass fishing gear and almost without exception postage costs ( if they post outside USA at all ) are extremely high . Sometimes making up a large order with friends reduces the cost but only viable if the kit is a lot cheaper in the States.
Then you have to watch out for import taxes payable on receipt ...
Buy in the EU if you can .

I love my Cabelas but would never have paid that postage, was lucky enough that a team mate visits the States often with work and brought them back for me.
