Re: Orvis beginners sessions
Just found this post I know it's old but a year later I thought I'd add myown endorsement.
A few weeks ago I also had a free three hour introductory session at Orvis in Tenterden with Richard. It's not often in this life you get anything for nothing and I was fully expecting to get three hours of hard sell but nothing could have been further from the truth. The first part of the session was spent in the shop talking through rods, reels, lines, leaders and flies and learning the essential knots, then we walked a short distance to a field out back and spent an hour or so practising casting. There was zero hard sell, only four pupils to one instructor, good company and to cap it all we left with some free gifts and a £25 money off voucher to be spent in store.
For anyone who thinks they might like to give fly fishing a go it seems to be a perfect introduction to this sport and a great springboard to have a casting lesson and get out fishing.
