Default Heron

I know I'm leaving myself wider open here to many a witty response...but
there's a small stream by me, 5ft wide at it's widest, 4ft deep at it's deepest. Whilst walkin the dogs, I often stop and ponder, watch for movement/signs etc. Occasionally, a pair of herons a frightened to flight by the dogs, and settled in the field.

so here's my question...

Why would a heron frequent a stream? Fish?
Any other reason?
Apart from the meandering curves maybe?

4ft deep is quite a stream. Unless the stream is too high up for fish to reach, or the water quality is very poor, then there's likely to be fish in it.

There's a great picture on the wall of Eyebrook fishery showing a Heron with a big **** rat in its beak. Those things will eat anything they can swallow.

It's all to do with the question, you never asked if we thought there would be fish in the stream.
You asked us what a heron would eat.
Much as we try, were not mind readers.
Tight lines.
