Default Lancashire Stocks Fishery Meet 21 August

Hi Everyone
We had a previous thread "What is the Best Fishery in Lancashire" which has now been transferred to here. Certain of the Lancashire group of the Forum are meeting at Stocks to boat fish on Sunday, the 21 August. So far those who have expressed an interest are:-

Acid House,Chesscar,Wobblyface,Bill 1, SharkeyP,Philfish1966,Haribo, and Farmerblob. Anyone can join us and we would be pleased to see you. So far we've had two meets at Barnsfold and fancy a change. You would have to find your own boat partner, or pair up with someome on the Forum, and book your own boat. I don't want to have to fork out the cost of boats booked and not used to Ben Dobson.

At this stage we are giving Forum members plenty of time to think about the meet and will try to run this thread as long as possible. Nearer the time more details will be provided.

Stocks have a well run website and publish daily fishing reports. All the fishing and boat hire tarrifs are on the website also.

If you fancy bobbing about on a boat for a day, on Lancashire's premier fishery, let us know.

Tight lines

BK

Sorry if we're too far away Tom.My fishing team venture in Scotland, approximately four hours journey, to fish competitions. I'm too old to be considered viable any more but how I miss those beautiful Scottish stillwaters.

Hi BK, I'd be interested in joining you all for the day... however... just been speaking to Ben at Stocks and I mentioned your preferred date, 21st August. It appears there could be a small problem... the bridge in Slaidburn will be undergoing repairs from the 17th August to the 1st September. Ben is trying to organise an alternative route using United Utilities roads/tracks but does not yet know for certain if this will be viable. He should know more by weekend. The fishery will remain open either way, but sadly, acess will be limited to the northern approach.

I'll put myself forward to liase with Ben if you like, BK, and give you the info as soon as Ben has it. I'm sure that if the worst comes to the worst, we can still organise something outside of the bridge repair dates.

Rob.

Hmmm,
lovely drive in from High Bentham end but I should think ninety minutes extra detour for anyone coming from the South. It would put me off!

How about Lower Ogden as an alternative? No boats but £15 two fish all day C&R ticket?

Hi Rob

Thanks for averting a potential disaster. I never expected the southern approach to be cut off from marauding strangers. I should be delighted if you would liaise with Ben so the meet goes smoothly.I did worry that the date I'd picked might have been a Stocks competition date which would cause a shortage of boats.

I'm sure there must be a way round the bridge repairs. I would have thought the highway authority have a duty to ensure some form of access is maintained or a straightforward diversion route?

Please keep in touch and once again thanks for your help.

Alban

Good alternative SharkeyP something to fall back on if Stocks goes pear shaped.

Hi all

I'm hoping to get some news in a day or so from Scratch about access to Stocks. If the 21th is off at Stocks I will try to find a suitable alternative venue. I think the boat idea appealed to many members. Can anyone suggest a Lancashire venue with enough boats to satisfy our needs?

BK
