I now im doing something stupid but I dont know what?

I had brief flirtation with fly fishing as a kid and last year - back again.

What am I doing wrong? Its driving me mad!! I think Im having a blonde moment.

Trying to fill the reel with line and after filling the spool the line is coming off the reel at the top of the reel instead of the bottom. If that makes sense?

Its like the line is wound on the wrong way. What am I doing wrong. I tried threading the line different ways lol.

Sorry for being a bit thick!!

The other reel I got is correct so I done it once. I been trying for over an hour now!!!lol

Hi Tencher,

if you hold the reel up in front of you with the handle side facing you, for a left hand wind you would rotate the handle anti-clockwise to reel the line on to spool. so the line comes out (in the description above) from the bottom pointing left.

so if you've got a righthand winding setup it would be the other way around

you will hopefully get some posts asking about the make and model which will help drill down to the problem (lots of reels can be swapped from left to right handed use and vice-versa)

I have had couple of beers so there's a good chance I got that lot above backwards though
