Yep, I buy bits and peices off of ebay, but to be fair it has mostly been reels and fly reels at that.

Had one bad experience in the very early stages of my ebay shopping which i learned from.

Touch wood it has been okay so since.

Check the feedback score and comments and then go with your gut instinc. I've bought a fair bit over the years and luckily had no probs ....

If you are bidding, set yourself a limit for an item and don't exceed that.

Also watch out for postage costs some of them are getting a bit excessive IMO.

Be realistic about what you are bidding for, a lot of items will be or have been discontinued some time asgo even as described as new.

As previously mentioned, checking the feedback percentage and comments left by buyers is the key to eBay.
Also, if you pay with paypal you are protected against wrongly described items and non receipt.

as veryone else has said but also check price of same article elsewhere via a google search. People often seem to get carried away buying second hand at a price higher than new

Very true GHG. Just because it's on ebay doesn't mean that it's a bargain....so have a look elsewhere before you buy. Having said that there are bargains to be had.........I've had some real steals with gear. Best deal so far a 9ft #5 Hardy Ultralite supposedly second hand but still had the cork cover on complete with brand new bag and aluminium tube. Priced in my 2006 Hardy catalogue @ £700..........mine for £110..........bargain..........birdsnest
