Default Drifting!

Hi,

I was fishing Foremark yesterday, me and my boat partner had anchored onto feeding fish and was catching one a cast UNTIL someone drifted within touching distance of me...past me... and into where I was casting basically right in fornt of us now, I had to sit down and watch them! not a word was said, they didnt even look at us until they started there engine AFTER CATCHING A FISH INFRONT OF US and sped of with the engine on full revs... what was that alll about

Me being 21 would of expected a more courteous approach to me and my boat partner from the more mature (50-60+) angler!

It wouldnt have bothered us if they:

1. Had apologised for drifting into us and starting there engine and SLOWLY drove away.

Or,

2. anchored next to us for the fish.

I seen a post on here not so long ago about people anchoring right infront of peoples drifts and im cautious of doing so, but I feel that was terrible manners

Or am i being a moaning young mature adult?

Thanks,

I'm afraid they would have been told to get some manners from me.In no uncertain manner.I might even have mentioned their parentage.

Yep definite bad form drifting infront of someone very rude indeed.

I do admit I did drift out of control on a very windy day in rowning boat on Blagdon a couple of years back. I did my best to appologoise as I frantically rowed to avoid a collision and plouged right through where the chap was fishing. I was rewarded with some head shaking and mildly *******ed I did deserve that tho.

You are not alone tho I have been happily bank fishing on Rutland and enjoying the peace and catching the odd fish and then get noticed by a boat or two who nochantly chug over and the drift right through where I have been fishing, with all that water and a boat too

Hi
Provided that you did not drop anchor in front of a boat already upon a drift it sounds like a case of very bad manners from a fellow angler.
You seem to have acted in a very restrained manner.

I would have hurled verbal abuse and possibly an oar or two if the skipper did not shift his boat away and I am 50+.
Yes I have sort fuse but find it better to express myself than sit like a mouse.

All anglers should be aware of basic manners and distances to stay clear of other boats.

Drifting boats and those that wish to anchor need to both abide by the etiquette code , basically if a boat is there first it has priority and others should not come within 50 yards and ruin the fishing.

Sounds like you had the misfortune to meet a someone without manners.

too Drift or not too Drift that is the question

Poor form from the anglers in the drifting boat

But then IMO sitting anchored on fish catching one a chuck is a bit of a no no as well.

Hi Jim

Hope you are well now? I've been on the receiving end when I've got too close to your boat in a comp. You certainly make yourself understood.

It's not as though we had sat there for hours catching one a chuck... they literally JUST started feeding, i had 2-3 fish before I was interupted

Well done although I get the impression you wouldn't have been moving far if you weren't interrupted.
