Aimed at novices aged 12 -14 and 15 -17 who want an introduction to fly fishing, there are still a few vacancies left in this friendly boat competition. No previous fly fishing experience is required as Rutland Water Fly Fishers are trying to introduce newcomers into the sport.

The entry fee is just £10 and includes tackle hire, fishing permit, boat hire, boatman, casting tuition and after-match food.

The day will start at 11am and finish at 7 30 pm with a barbecue.

Entry is on a first come first served basis, so if you know of any youngster ( male or female ) who may be interested, let them know.

I have my daughter booked on this event, wow is she excited.

I have now got a dilemma, what to do when the kids are out on the boat!!!!!!!!

Anyone else facing the same problem, fancy pairing up in a boat for the day while the kids are doing their thing
