All floating lines sink at the tip, sooner or later.

Use some Mucilin over the first few feet.

Clean it with warm water and a clean cloth. Is water getting into the core? If you use a needle knot to attach a sacrificial butt of thick monofilament the knot will stop water getting into the core.

BUT clean it first and try it then. It shouldn't need any dressing on it to make it float.

Most floating lines sink from the leader upwards. grease the sinking bit with red Mucilin not green. Green destroys the coating on the fly line.

I have this problem with a Greys Platinum XD (the line is nearly new), a friend also has a greys foater which does the same. Tried gluing the end to stop water getting in but this hasn't worked. I also have an airflo which isn't the best line in alot of ways but the full length of it floats all day.

I am planning to try the needle knot to see if a tight knot will seal the end but failing that will look for a new line - if anyone has any recommendations for floaters that float it would be useful

Absolute rubbish, green shouldn't be used on silk lines only.

Because it's got silicone in it.

Gluing normally helps, as per pirates advice. Cut a few mm off the end, drape the end over a 4-6 ft drop like a wardrobe overnight to empty/dry then use aquasure or similar to seal it, not sure if standard superglue will perish. Or return it for an exchange/refund if possible and buy from the pirate

Thanks to the pirate for this advice

Cheers
Kevin
