Looking to buy a drogue, are they much of a muchness or some more durable than others? Any recommendations welcome.

I used the new Wychwood one at the weekend and it done the biz. It came with 2 Ratchet clamps

Yep Wychwood para drogue are the biz- u can leave it out whilst u re position the boat using the motor. It is probably best to replace the cord with a more heavy duty rope and use o rings and caragbenas to help it sink and for ease of use.

In conversation with a fellow forumite last year about drogues and we realise that we hadn't seen one of those drogues with a hole through it. Along the lines of the old fashioned parachutes.

Anyone know if they are still made and where to get hold of one?

Have a look at Steve Partons website, it's quite refreshing.

I think he makes his own and they are not expensive. I'm sure he would make one with a hole in it for you.

He is running the retail side of it down ,but I am sure that he would make you one.
My last para drouge with the hole in it is with some toerag who borrowed it at Bewl .
I remember them well especially that photo in Bob Churchs book using it a a sail almost .

I made a whole lot for Bob and almost everybody else too and I still do it - however my superior products are not backed up by extensive and non value adding marketting operations such as the agents of the Chinese are prone to use .

Can somebody tell me the actual point of upping the manufacturing costs and reducing the effectiveness of a drogue - by putting a hole in the middle ? I see no point in letting the water out if you've gone to the trouble of catching it and I never have.

But what do I know ?
