Planning on taking my brother out for a day on the water at strt July. I am normally a chaser of wild browns, therefore would appreciate some recommendations for the best places to try boat fishing for rainbows. Ideally within an hourse drive of Edinburgh and at a cost that wont break the bank as I am paying.

Beecraigs is a pleasant place to spend a day afloat.

Or just under an hours driving will get you up to the Lake of Menteith.Booked solid at weekends but still possible to obtain a short notice boat during the week.Might still be a few mayflies around.

I would have recommended Glencorse. Beautiful spot. But I don't think the lease has been renewed yet. :-(

I know there's boats on Rosebery (aka Roseberry) Reservoir. 30 min drive south from the city centre. Don't know much about it though as have only been there the once.

Also, there's a new tenant at Morton Reservoir - 45 min drive into west lothian. There's a thread on here somewhere. Due to open on 26 June if I recall rightly. Contact number is 07592577652. Google that number and you should find the thread on here.
