we went to the lakes this evening arrived 18.00 hrs nothing topping .
bit of a ripple set up with an 18`by 8lbs leader GRHE with a wire wrap on point and 6` away put a 6" dropper and a Silver Invictor.
WHAM 5 Rainbow in 1.5 hrs.
Nothing on the point fly a GRHE.
retieve was a jerky figure of 8 and 14" strip .
Sheila sat on next peg with same fly on the point (no Dropper). didnt get a sniff.
Would it be the way the Silver Invictor rose up and down through the water levels that induced a take, as a posed to just travelling in the top few inches?
there are a lot of fry about .

DD definitely sounds like the Invicta being on the dropper was fishing the way they wanted it, i had a similar experience, fished a hothead diawl bach on a dropper, had 4 rainbows on the DB, in almost as many casts, no takes on the point fly.

A few larger fish began to show, and in a rush to cast to what seemed like a good fish, i ended up with a birdsnest, rather than take time to tie another cast, i put the diawl bach on by itself, same length of leader, no more takes in about 15 casts, so made up another leader with the DB on the dropper, and the fish got interested again, so it appeared to me that, they certainly liked the droppers action.
