Default 6/7 or 7/8

Been sent a sk4 7/8# rod instead of a 6/7#, I believe that a 7/8# rod would be better suited to a 8# weight line? Is this right because I don't want a rod that is suited to an 8 weight as I have 5,6 and 7 weight lines. I am looking to use the rod as a 7# so was looking for some info on this before I send the rod back.

Cheers

Send the rod back and ask for the one you ordered.

Dave.

Have you run a line through it and tried it? You may find it is great with a 7. Line sizing is subjective and you have to make your own mind up.

That's the thing they havn't got any 6/7 left even though they took my order for that weight and took my money and then sent me the wrong rod

I then called them today and who ever answered the phone told me to send them an e-mail to try and sort it out. I tried to ask him a question and the phone went dead. Had to call them back to get it sorted. I can't see them getting any further orders somehow.

With family and work, I wont get fishing again till next weekend so wont get a chance to chuck a line out. That's why I was looking for some details before I have to send it back. It seems a decent rod for £65 but a waste if it suits a 8# line cause I will never use it.

Coors
Seems like you are getting the bad end of the deal and the supplier is fobbing you off with the nearest to your request.
Send it back

Another shop taking money but not having the item you want, they must have known, i would send a mail and complain say they need to pay for postage if you send back, or keep rod if you like it with your kind of fishing and mail you wont do anymore business and say will let forum members know name of shop. how many more times forum members will get this problem????? we should have a list of tackle shops that are good and not so good customer service, i dont buy much now so try get off forum, last purchase w/f 6 floater from richardw on special deal floats ok minimum memory shoots ok, many dont like a brown line but ok for me. let us know what you do.

Get your money back, no-one wants a #7-8 rod that's why they're trying to offload it. I'd name and shame them too, you'd be doing us all a favour.

Would depend on your casting style, type of line used ,distance you need to cast etc etc only you can tell by trying it but if in doubt send it back-its not what you ordered

all the best Nick
