Sometimes the wake is good!
makes fish look up at disturbance, sees fly, bobs your uncle!
is a bit unusual for braided loops to do this though!
they tend to sink even when on full floating line.
However they can and do act as sight indicator as to where the end of cast actually is.
needle knot/nail knot is a far superior method of attachment if tapering cast though, but not as simple to put on to end of fly line.
I use braided loops for most trout/salmon situations, and indeed some saltwater applications i.e. bonefishing.
cant say I have noticed any disturbing "wake" in their use.
