Default Sage warranties

Anyone had any recent experience of claiming on a Sage warranty. I am about to buy a new rod and it is a toss up between a Sage and an Orvis. I slightly prefer the Sage, but I know Orvis warranties are bullet proof. So before I commit I need to know if Sage warranties are easy to claim and what costs are involved.

£35 'handling charge' with Sage. No idea on Orvis... never owned one.

I have had two new top sections replaced recently, through Gary Coxon,as Scratch says £35 handling charge but rod was returned in a week.and one of them was an SP which is a fairly old model.

So is it best to return the warranty card to USA immediately, or do you keep it?

Couple of quick thoughts, the 35 pounds is to pay for the return shipping/insurance, not the rod repair (here it's, or the last time I checked, $35.00 USD). And Duncan, if you got the rod back in a week that's far faster than you'd get here on my side of the Pond.

On sending in the war/card there are two schools of thought: If I need a repair, they're good to go. If I want to sell the rod handing over the WC can have it's benefits. Only 'issue' with that is all Sage rods have a code on them (just above the reel seat) telling them when the rod was built. Long time between one and the other and a 'new' warranty registration could raise eyebrows. Warranty is good to the original owner only I've been told.

Aye, he seems to hold tip sections in stock, anything else.... and it's off to the states.

I have had 2 broken sections replaced by Orvis recently, each within a week at no charge. Their guarantee is bomb proof

That's good to hear- the only sections I have ever broken are tip sections. As I intend to keep the rod for life I will sent the card immediately. Thanks for your responses.

Sorrry if its a bit off topic but,
I bought a new 10' 5wt z axis about two years ago at a tackle show and got no warranty card for it, and I mean new. At the moment Im not using it as the eyes are burned out. (I do a LOT of fishing) Any idea where i stand with sage??? Probably needs all the eyes replaced. I could probably get the warranty card from the dealer i bought it from as they are fairly reputable. Or would i be better off getting a custom job done on it. I love the rod and wouldn't consider parting with it. What do you think would be the best option???
