Default Assynt

Heading up that way for a few days camping. Anybody got any recommendations for lochs? Seems spoiled for choice. I would prefer easy access as time is likely to be limited and I don't want to waste too much time up to my waist struggling through peat bogs being eating alive by midges
Thanks

Bill the best thing to do is to check with the local shops. They will give you all the advice you need. Let me know if your dropping in for another days fishing at the Hailey, on your way home.

I cant think of any impartial articles on fish farming. It's one of 2 choices, your either for it or against it. Most of the problems stem from where they site, the sea cages. If they were not on route of migratory fish, the problems would not be anywhere near as bad.

Just two things Bill I'm green with envy and I hope you have a good time. Watch out for those Scottish midges they have teeth like a crocodile.

a good place to start is find out which zone your going to be in Fishing - Discover Assynt

then just pick up a map, visual guide book.

Would you consider a 3+ mile walk 1300 feet ascent, approx 2½ hrs, to camp with five lochs in walking distance?

Another three if you go over the top of here.

Your camp site, can you spot my tent?

If that is what you are after I will PM you the map co-ordinates and a route if you have a GPS, although there is a good path all the way

Thanks, guys
I'm low on battery and the wifi is dodgy so will reply properly in due course.
Fished Loch Crocach this morning - had some on dries and some on traditional wets until I had to return. Great moment, when scrambling out of a gully I came face to face with an eagle sitting on a rock not 30 yards away.

fishtales - no I do not fancy a 3mile slog I had a mile each way of bog today in some very "soft" drizzle - that was quite enough Seriously, thanks a lot but I am limited to fishing time so I'm fishing easily accessible waters
